Byrne Dairy chooses the city of Chenango site for its new store

Several properties are under contract for a potential new Byrne Dairy convenience store in the Nimmonsburg section of the town of Chenango.

The Syracuse-based company has grown rapidly in recent years. He opened his first Broome County store in Endicott less than four months ago. New stores are also planned at Endwell and Whitney Point.

Byrne Dairy Vice President Christian Brunelle said the company has now chosen a 2.7-acre site at 1115 Front Street in the town of Chenango for a fourth store in the Binghamton area.

The future store would be built just north of the Sonic Drive-In restaurant. The store would be located at the corner of Front Street and Hillside Drive.

A two-story office building now stands on the site. A State Farm and Hillside Flower Girls insurance agent office operate on site.

Brunelle said Byrne Dairy will present plans for the project to Chenango town officials soon, most likely in October.

If the project receives the necessary approvals, Brunelle said work on the site could begin next spring.

Meanwhile, the finishing touches are being put on the next Broome County Byrne Dairy & Deli store. The store at 3100 Watson Boulevard in Endwell is scheduled to open October 12.

Byrne Dairy also plans to open a store on Route 11 at River Road in Whitney Point. The schedule for this project has not been finalized.
