Jobs Dan Murphy is still looking for thousands of workers across Australia

A hiring drive has attracted more than 1,000 new employees to Dan Murphy’s after the liquor chain offered guaranteed 10-minute on-site interviews with anyone over the age of 18 who requested one.

“We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people interested in a career with Dan Murphy to get their foot in the door,” said Dan Murphy Managing Director Agi Pfeiffer-Smith.

But the hundreds of new hires still aren’t enough in a tight job market, with the bottle shop giant still looking to hire more than 1,200 people across the country.

The liquor chain hoped the ‘hiring week’ which ran from September 5-12 would fill 2,200 vacancies at Dan Murphy’s 258 stores – including some in WA – with growing pressure to recruit more staff before the busy Christmas period.

“Every Dan Murphy store is hiring,” Ms. Pfeiffer-Smith said.

Dan Murphy’s is far from the only company struggling to fill vacancies, with hospitality establishments and retail workers across the country trying to find available staff amid low unemployment .

Australia’s latest unemployment rate sits at 3.5%, an increase of just 0.1% from July’s low.

In addition to offering immediate job interviews with store managers, Dan Murphy’s has also offered to cover the cost of training successful candidates to obtain their Responsible Liquor Certification Service to attract more potential hires. .

The company aimed to fill 670 positions in New South Wales, 570 in Queensland, 530 in Victoria, 280 in Western Australia and 140 in South Australia.
